Squeak From Door Switch

SYMPTOM

A squeak from one or more door switches while driving.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The door switch plunger squeaks inside the switch housing.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the faulty switch(es).

In warranty: The normal warranty applies.

Out of warranty: Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

Door Switch: P/N 35400-SOA-003





NOTE:
Use only door switches that were produced after October 1, 1999. Look at the code on the door switch to determine its production date.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Test-drive the car to find which door the squeak is coming from.





2. Remove the suspect door switch, and tape the connector to the doorjamb.

3. Test-drive the car to see if the squeak is gone.

^ If the squeak is gone, install a new door switch.

^ If the squeak is still there, check the other door switches.

^ Look for other causes of the squeak if all the door switches are OK.
