Keyless Entry Does Not Work In Certain Areas

SYMPTOM
The customer states the keyless entry does not work in certain areas. When the vehicle is moved to another area, the keyless entry works.

PROBABLE CAUSE
Weather tower and/or pager tower signals may block the keyless transmitter signal.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Remove the antenna wire from the passenger's [1][2]multiplex control unit connector.

NOTE: Keyless remote transmitter range will decrease slightly after completing this procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE





1. Remove the glove box, the right dashboard side cover, and the glove box cover. Refer to the 1999 3.2TL Service Manual.





2. Disconnect the green 22P connector from the passenger's [1][2]multiplex control unit.





3. Release the secondary terminal lock.

NOTE: The connector in the illustration is for example only. The 22P connector is a double-row connector.

4. Use pin removal tool B to remove pin 14 (BRN wire) from the connector.
5. Tape the BRN wire to the harness.
6. Reset the secondary terminal lock.
7. Reconnect the 22P connector to the passenger's [1][2]multiplex control unit.
8. Reinstall all removed parts.
