Squeaking Noise From the Rear Console

PROBLEM

You hear a squeaking noise from the rear console when driving over speed bumps with your elbow resting on the console's armrest pad. This noise may seem to be coming from the passenger's seat or from the passenger's floor area.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the armrest latch.

DIAGNOSIS
Rest your forearm on the rear console armrest pad. Gently wiggle your forearm back and forth, and listen for a squeaking noise from the pad.

- If you do not hear a squeaking noise, disregard this service bulletin, and look for other possible causes of the customer's complaint.
- If you hear a squeaking noise, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.





REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Pull the right lever on the rear console, and lift up the armrest pad.
2. Remove and discard the armrest latch (save the two mounting screws).
3. Install the new armrest latch. Lower the armrest pad.
4. Rest your forearm on the armrest pad. Gently wiggle your forearm back and forth to make sure the noise is gone.
