Navigation System Setup at TQI

The navigation system must be allowed to initialize itself before use. During initialization, the system establishes communication with several GPS satellites. When initialization is complete, the system can "locate" itself and function normally. To initialize the system, follow this procedure.

1. Perform the normal TQI of the vehicle.

2. Start the engine, and move the vehicle outside, away from buildings and power lines. Then enter the navigation system security code. The code is on the Radio Anti-Theft Code card.

NOTE:
If the card is lost, you can find the code with the Dealer Communications System (DCS) by using the Anti-Theft Code option. Enter the serial number from the bottom of the control unit. If you cannot find the code with DCS, contact the Automobile Warranty Department at 310-783-3240.

3. These instructions appear on the navigation system screen to indicate the system is initializing. Follow the on-screen instructions.

NOTE:
The average initialization takes about 10 minutes, but it can take as long as 45 minutes.

4. If the system does not initialize, the screen below appears. Follow the on-screen instructions.

NOTE:
The initialization screen may appear after battery voltage to the navigation system unit has been disconnected for more than 5 minutes. If this occurs, follow the on-screen instructions.

5. When initialization is complete, the disclaimer screen appears. Touch "OK."

6. Before programming a route, drive the vehicle at least a halt mile from your dealership, then find a safe place to park.

7. MDX only:
While driving, press the A/C-TRIP button. Verify that the trip computer functions are working.

8. Find a safe place to park. MDX only: Touch the "On" icon by "Reset with refuel."

13. From the "Sub-category:" menu, select "Acura Dealer."

14. From the "Choose one of the following:" menu, select "Sort by Distance to Travel."

15. Select your dealership from the screen listings, then select "OK" on the next screen.

16. Verify that the navigation system works properly by following the system's routing prompts while you drive back to your dealership.

17. Press the "Setup" icon on the screen, then verify these settings by touch or with the joystick:

^ Volume set to the midrange

^ Reroute set to Auto

18. Touch "Previous" to bring up the "To delete:" menu. Select and delete any previous destinations except your dealership.

19. Touch "Return" to go back to the Setup screen, then touch "Others."

20. Touch "Clock," and adjust the clock to the correct time and time zone.

21. Return to the main menu, then clean the screen with the special cleaning cloth that comes with the system. Do not use shop towels, paper towels, or tissues; they can scratch or damage the screen MDX Only

22. Refuel the vehicle. After refueling, select the Trip Computer and verify that the Avg., E/T, and Trip displays have reset.

23. Touch "History" to display the Trip History screen.

NOTE:
