INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. Open the moon roof.

2. Look on the underside of the roof for foam pads that cushion the legs of the wind deflector.

^ If there are no foam pads on the underside of the roof, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE A.

^ If there are foam pads, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE B.

REPAIR PROCEDURE A

1. Remove the rubber stops on the tops of the wind deflector legs.

2. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the underside of the roof above the wind deflector legs.

3. Trial-fit the new foam pads to the underside of the roof. Position them so they make full contact with the wind deflector legs and are not overlapping onto the roof flange.

4. Peel off the backing, and install the foam pads.

REPAIR PROCEDURE B

1. Verify that the wind deflector legs contact the foam pads.

^ If either leg is contacting the roof instead of the foam pad, continue to step 2.

^ If both legs are contacting the foam pads, replace the wind deflector.

2. Remove any foam pad that is not contacted by the leg.

3. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the underside of the roof above the wind deflector leg.

4. Trial-fit the new foam pad to the underside of the roof. Position it so it makes full contact with the wind deflector leg, and is not overlapping onto the roof flange.

5. Peel off the backing, and install the foam pad.

6. Repeat this procedure if the other foam pad is not cushioning the deflector leg.

7. Test-drive the vehicle to verify the booming noise is gone.

^ If the noise is gone, return the vehicle to the customer.

^ If the noise is still there, replace the wind deflector.
