Accelerator Pedal Feels Like It Pops When First Pressed (Supersedes 04-035, Accelerator Pedal Hard to Press, dated November 9, 2004, to update the information marked by asterisks)
SYMPTOM
*The client may "feel" the release of the throttle plate through the accelerator pedal when first pressing the accelerator pedal after a cold start. Some describe it as a "pop" sensation.*
PROBABLE CAUSE
Primarily in coastal regions, carbon and salt deposits accumulate on the Molykote(R) in the throttle bore.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Install a new throttle body and gasket.
NOTE:
Cleaning is not sufficient. Changes have been made to the throttle plate angle and stop settings of the new throttle body.
