Steering Hanger Beam Replacement
Steering Hanger Beam ReplacementNOTE: Put on gloves to protect your hands.
1. Remove the dashboard.
2. Remove the following parts from the dashboard:
- Instrument panel
- Display unit
3. Release the wire harness (A) from the hooks (B). Remove the sunlight sensor (C) by detaching the clips (D), and disconnect the connector (E).
4. Remove the screws (A and B), then remove the brackets (C) from the dashboard (D). Disconnect the equalizer unit connector (E).
5. Disconnect the dashboard wire harness connectors (A), cruise control unit connector (B), SRS wire harness connector (C). On '03 model, disconnect the memory erase signal (MES) connector (D) from the driver's under dash fuse/relay box. Detach the dashboard wire harness connector from the connector holder (E), and on '02-03 models, release it from the steering hanger beam wire harness connector (F). Release the passenger's airbag connector (G) from the connector holder (H), and disconnect the connector. Remove the ground bolts (I). Detach the harness clip and connector clips.
6. Remove the screws and the front passenger's airbag mounting nuts from the dashboard.
7. Separate the dashboard (A) and steering hanger beam (B).
8. Install the beam in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Make sure the dashboard wire harness (C) and steering hanger beam wire harness (D) are not pinched.
- Make sure the connectors are connected properly.
