Valve Cover: Service and Repair
Cylinder Head Cover Removal1. Remove the strut brace.
2. Remove the Power Steering (P/S) hose clamp (A).
3. Disconnect the Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) actuator connector (B), then remove the IMRC actuator (C) (J32A2 engine).
4. Remove the two bolts securing the wire harness holder (J32A2 engine).
5. Remove the six ignition coils from the front and rear cylinder head.
6. Remove the intake manifold.
7. Remove the cylinder head cover.
Cylinder Head Cover Installation
1. Install the cylinder head covers.
NOTE:
^ Before installing the cylinder head cover, clean the cylinder head contacting surfaces with a shop towel. Take care not to damage the spark plug seal when installing the cylinder head cover.
^ Visually check the spark plug seals for damage. Replace the washer if it is damaged or deteriorated.
2. Tighten the nuts in two or three steps. In the final step, tighten all nuts, in sequence, to 12 Nm (1.2 kgf-cm, 8.7 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the intake manifold.
4. Install the six ignition coils.
5. Install the wire harness holder, then secure the bolts (J32A2 engine).
6. Install the Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) actuator (A), then connect the IMRC actuator connector (B) (J32A2 engine).
7. Install the Power Steering (P/S) hose clamp (C).
8. Install the strut brace.
