Window Rattles in the Door

SYMPTOM

The window makes a rattling noise inside the door.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The window glass is not securely attached to the window regulator.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Install flange nuts on the window mounting bolts.

Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove the door panel (refer to page 20-4 of the 2002 RSX Service Manual).

2. Using a utility knife, carefully cut the adhesive, and peel the door sash trim away from the rear edge of the door. Separate the adhesive until the access holes to the window operation bolts are visible.

3. Reconnect the window switch connector, and lower or raise the window until you can see the window mounting bolts in the access holes.





4. By hand, install a nut on each of the two mounting bolts that secure the window glass to the window regulator. Tighten the bolts securely with a wrench.

5. Reinstall the door sash trim. Make sure it is installed securely.

6. Reinstall the door panel in the reverse order of removal. Make sure all the connectors are plugged in properly.

7. Repeat steps 1 thru 6 for the other window, if necessary.
