Wind Noise at the Top of the Windshield
SYMPTOM
Wind noise can be heard coming from the top of the windshield when the vehicle is driven at highway speeds.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Airflow over the windshield molding causes it to vibrate.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Apply sealant under the entire length of the upper windshield molding.

DIAGNOSIS
1. Test-drive the vehicle, preferably on a warm day, to verify the noise. (On cooler days, you may not hear it.)
^ If you hear the noise, go to step 2.
^ If you don't hear the noise, disregard this bulletin, and look for other possible causes.
2. Apply a 2-inch-wide strip of masking tape over the windshield molding along the A-pillars and the roof.
3. Test-drive the vehicle.
^ If the noise is gone, remove the masking tape, then go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.
^ If the noise is still there, disregard this bulletin, and look for other possible causes.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Protect the paint by applying a 2-inch-wide strip of masking tape along the edge of the molding at the roof and the A-pillars.
2. Pull up the outer edge of the molding with an 0-ring pick, then fill the entire channel length under the molding with 3M Black Super Silicone Sealant.
3. Push down on the molding, and smooth it out until it sits flush with the roof.
4. Wait 5 minutes, then remove the masking tape.
5. Clean off any excess sealant with 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner.
