Non-Trouble Code Procedures - Onstar System
Troubleshooting1. Check the No.56 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and the No.4 (10 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.
Are the fuses OK?
YES - Go to step 2.
NO - Find and repair the cause of the blown fuse.
2. Remove the rear seat (Refer to the PIN 61SZ305, for the items not shown in this section).
3. Check for continuity between the A32 terminal of the OnStar control unit and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 4.
NO - Repair open in the BLK wire between the OnStar control unit and G601.
4. Check for continuity between the 81 terminal of the OnStar system interface unit and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 5.
NO - Repair open in the BLK wire between the OnStar system interface unit and G401, G402.
5. With the ignition switch OFF, press and hold the "dot" button. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to ACC three times and back to ACC, then release the "dot" button.
6. The indicator will flash (green or red) if any failures have been detected. Troubleshoot the DTCs as indicated:
NOTE:
- Green indicator flashes historic (stored) failure DTCs.
- Red indicator flashes current failure DTCs.
- Current DTCs, are displayed first, followed by history DTCs, if any.
- DTCs are displayed in numerical order for two cycles. The indicator returns to normal function after the two cycles.
How to clear the codes:
Press the OnStar button within 3 seconds after the second DTC cycle.
How to enter demonstration mode:
1. When ignition switch is turned OFF within 3 sec after DTC, system will be shifted to demonstration mode.
2. Each signals will be appear in order below.
- 2 sec after ignition switch is OFF: Door lock
- 1 sec after door lock: door: Door unlock
- 1 sec after door unlock: Horn and exterior lights period of 0.7 sec.
