Steering: Description and Operation
How the Circuit WorksThe EPS system is an electric motor-driven system that minimizes loss of engine power and decreases fuel consumption. The system also produces a linear steering feel and reduces kickback. The EPS control unit computes the optimum amount of steering assistance by taking into account vehicle speed and steering torque.
Battery voltage is applied at all times to the EPS control unit through fuses 27 and 33. With the ignition switch in ON or START, voltage is applied through fuse 5 to the control unit and to the EPS indicator light in the instrument cluster. The module is grounded at G402, G403, and G1.
