Display Panel Control and Touch Screen Buttons Do Not Work
Display panel control unit buttons and touch screen buttons do not workNOTE:
- Always check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Before troubleshooting, make sure you have the navigation system anti-theft code.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ACC (I).
2. Try several navigation buttons and touch screen buttons.
Do all buttons function properly?
YES - The system is OK at this time.
NO
- If all navigation buttons and touch screen are inoperative, go to step 3.
- If some navigation buttons operate normally, while others do not, go into the Diagnostic mode and use "Touch Panel" diagnostic under Monitor Check and if necessary, "Display" diagnostic under Unit Check.
3. Measure the voltage between body ground and display panel control unit connector A (14P) terminal No. 5 and No. 6 individually,
Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 4.
NO - If the +B wire dose not have voltage, repair the open in the wire between the under-dash fuse/relay box and the display panel control unit. If the ACC wire does not have voltage, repair the open in the wire between the under-dash fuse/relay box and the display panel control unit.
4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
5. Disconnect audio unit connector A and B.
6. Disconnect the XM radio receiver.
7. Disconnect the display panel control unit connector A(14P).
8. Disconnect the navigation unit connector A (20P).
9. Check for continuity between display panel control unit connector A (14P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 10.
NO - Repair the open in the wire between the display panel control unit and body ground (G503).
10. Check for continuity between body ground and display panel control unit connector A (14P) terminal No. 3, No. 11 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES - There is a short to body ground in the circuit between the display panel control unit and the audio unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO - Go to step 11.
11. Check for continuity between body ground and display panel control unit connector E (22P) terminal No. 4 and No. 14 individually
Is there continuity?
YES - There is a short to body ground in the circuit between the display panel control unit and the navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO - Go to step 12.
12. Check for continuity between display panel control unit connector A (14P) terminal No. 10 and terminals No. 3 and No. 11 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES - There is a short between the display panel control unit and the audio unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO - Go to step 13.
13. Check for continuity between audio unit connector B (14P) terminals B3, B9 and B10to body ground individually.
Is there continuity?
YES - There is a short between the audio unit and XM radio receiver. Replace the affected harness.
NO - Go to step 14.
14. Check for continuity between display panel control unit connector E (22P) terminal No. 15 and terminals No. 4 and No. 14 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES - There is a short between the display panel control unit and the navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO - Go to step 15.
15. Check for continuity between display panel control unit connector E (22P) terminal No. 4 and navigation unit connector A (20P) terminal No. 10.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 16.
NO - There is an open in the circuit between the display panel control unit and the navigation unit Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the display panel control unit and navigation unit. If a poor connection or loose terminal is found, replace the affected shielded harness.
16. Check for continuity between display panel control unit connector E (22P) terminal No. 14 and navigation unit connector A (20P) terminal No 20.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 17.
NO - There is an open in the circuit between the display panel control unit and the navigation unit Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the display panel control unit and navigation unit If a poor connection or loose terminal is found, replace the affected shielded harness.
17. Check for continuity between display panel control unit connector A (14P) terminal No. 3 and audio unit connector C (26P) terminal No. 13.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 18.
NO - There is an open in the circuit between the display panel control unit and the audio unit. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the display panel control unit and audio unit. If a poor connection or loose terminal is found, replace the affected shielded harness.
18. Check for continuity between display panel control unit connector A (14P) terminal No. 13 and audio unit connector C (26P) terminal No. 26.
Is there continuity?
YES - Replace the display panel control unit.
NO - There is an open in the circuit between the display panel control unit and the audio unit. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the display panel control unit and audio unit. If a poor connection or loose terminal is found, replace the affected shielded harness.
