Brakes and Traction Control: Specifications

FRONT

Set up the dial gauge against the brake disc as shown, and measure the runout at 10 mm (3/8 inch) from the outer edge of the brake disc.
Brake disc runout
Service limit 0.10 mm (0.004 inch)
If the brake disc is beyond the service limit, refinish the brake disc with an on-car brake lathe. The Kwik-Lathe produced by Kwik-way Manufacturing Co. and the "Front Brake Disc Lathe" offered by Snap on Tools Co. are approved for this operation.
Max. refinish limit:
A/T model 26.0 mm (1.02 inch)
M/T model 14-piston caliper type) 23.0 mm (0.91 inch)
A new brake disc should be refinished if its runout is greater than 0.10 mm (0.004 inch)
Brake disc thickness: A/T model:
Standard 27.9 - 28.1 mm (1.10 - 1.11 inch)
Max. refinishing limit 26.0 mm (1.02 inch)
M/T model (4-piston caliper type):
Standard 24.9 - 25.1 mm (0.98 - 0.99 inch)
Max. refinishing limit 23.0 mm (0.91 inch)
Brake disc parallelism 0.015 mm (0.0006 inch) max.

REAR

Brake disc/drum runout:
Service limit 0.10 mm (0.004 inch)
Set up the dial gauge against the brake disc/drum as shown, and measure the runout at 10 mm (3/8 inch) from the outer edge of the brake disc
Max. refinishing limit 7.5 mm (0.30 inch)
A new disc should be refinished if its runout is greater then 0.10 mm (0.004 inch)
Brake disc/drum thickness:
Standard 8.9 - 9.1 mm (0.350 - 0.358 inch)
Max. refinishing limit 7.5 mm (1.30 inch)
Brake disc/drum parallelism 0.015 mm (0.0006 inch) max.
