Door Panel or B-Pillar Rattles, Ticks, or Buzzes
SYMPTOM
One or both of the front door panels or B-pillars rattles, ticks, or buzzes under normal driving conditions or while listening to the audio system.
PROBABLE CAUSES
The door panel rubs against the door skin.
The B-pillar upper trim rattles against the upper seat belt adjuster trim.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Repair Procedure A
Apply wool felt to the inside of both front door panels.

Repair Procedure B
Replace the B-pillar upper trim on both the driver's and passenger's sides.

Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.
DIAGNOSIS
If the noise is coming from a door panel, open the lower map pocket, and push and pull on the panel. If the noise stops, do REPAIR PROCEDURE A.
If the noise is coming from a B-pillar, push on the B-pillar trim. If the noise stops, do REPAIR PROCEDURE B.
REPAIR PROCEDURE A
1. Remove the front door panels:
^ Refer to page 20-7 of the 04-06 or the 2007 TL Service Manual, or
^ Online, enter keyword DOOR PANEL, and select Front Door Panel Removal/Installation from the list.
2. Fasten the security harness to the door:
^ Pull back the vapor barrier (driver's side only).
^ Cut a 50 mm x 50 mm piece of wool felt, and apply it as shown.
3. Reattach the vapor barrier.
4. Cut a 500 mm x 15 mm piece of wool felt, and apply it to the bottom edge of the inner door skin where the door panel rests. Do not overlap the edge of the panel more than 3 mm.
5. Open the lower map pocket. Cut a 20 mm x 15 mm piece of wool felt, and apply it to the underside of the armrest as shown.
6. Remove the sunglasses holder from the lower map pocket. Cut a 20 mm x 50 mm piece of felt, and apply it to the bottom of the sunglasses holder as shown.
7. Reinstall the sunglasses holder.
8. Reinstall the door panel in the reverse order of removal.
9. Repeat steps 1 through 8 for the passenger's door.
REPAIR PROCEDURE B
1. Replace the B-pillar upper trim on both the driver's and passenger's side:
^ Refer to page 20-65 of the 04-06 or the 2007 TL Service Manual, or
^ Online, enter keyword TRIM, and select Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Pillar Areas from the list.
