Glove Box Rattles or Squeaks
SYMPTOM
The glove box rattles or squeaks while driving.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Movement between the components allows the contact points to rattle or squeak while driving.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Install the required glove box kit.

Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.
DIAGNOSIS
Confirm the customer complaint of a rattle or squeak from the glove box while driving.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the passenger's dashboard lower cover.
^ Gently pull down the edge nearest the glove box to detach the clips
^ Pull the cover away to release the pins from the holders
2. Detach the glove box dampener hooks, and remove the glove box stops on each side.
3. Release the 10 glove box housing clips by gently pulling on the glove box and glove box housing. Disconnect the trunk lid opener main switch, the light bulb connector, and remove the glove box housing.
4. Open the new glove box, and detach the glove box dampener hooks. Using a razor blade knife carefully trim 4 mm off the front alignment tabs.
5. Transfer the glove box lock cylinder from the old glove box to the new glove box.

^ Online, enter keyword Glove Box, and select Glove Box Lock Cylinder Replacement from list.
6. Disconnect the relay assembly from the lower brace then remove the four screws on the lower brace and discard the brace.
7. Install the new brace that is supplied in the glove box kit using the four screws. Reattach the relay assembly to the new brace.
8. Install the new glove box housing. Using the two bolts supplied in the kit, secure the new brace to the glove box.
9. Reconnect the connectors
10. Install the remaining part in the reverse order of removal
11. If applicable insert the two clips supplied with the glove box kit into the blind holes at the top of the glove box.
12. Install the remaining part in the reverse order of removal
