Water Passage Replacement1. Drain the engine coolant.
2. Remove the alternator.
3. Remove the condenser fan shroud assembly.
4. Remove the splash shield.
5. Remove the A/C compressor without disconnecting the A/C hoses.
6. Remove the intake manifold.
7. Remove a bolt (A) securing the connecting pipe.
8. Remove the lower hose (B), connecting pipe (C), water bypass hose (D), and Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose (E).
9. Remove the water passage (A).
10. Remove the thermostat housing (B).
11. Remove the water pump.
12. Clean and dry the water passage mating surfaces.
13. Apply liquid gasket, P/N 08718-0009, evenly to the cylinder block mating surface of the water passage and to the inner threads of the bolt holes.
NOTE: Do not install the parts if 4 minutes or more have elapsed since applying liquid gasket. Instead, reapply liquid gasket after removing the old residue.
14. Install the water pump.
15. Install the thermostat housing (A) with a new O-ring (B).
16. Install the water passage (C) with a new O-ring (D).
17. Install the lower hose (A), connecting pipe (B), water bypass hose (C), and PCV hose (D).
18. Tighten a bolt (A) securing the connecting pipe.
19. Install the intake manifold.
20. Install the A/C compressor.
21. Install the splash shield.
22. Install the condenser fan shroud assembly.
23. Install the alternator.
24. After assembly, wait at least 30 minutes before filling the engine with coolant or oil.
