Moisture in the Headlight

SYMPTOM

Moisture inside the headlight unit.

PROBABLE CAUSE

Headlight lens not properly sealed to the housing.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the headlight and the gasket. If the connector is corroded, replace the igniter and the control unit.

Out of warranty:
Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove the headlight unit:

^ Refer to page 22-166 of the 2004 TSX Service Manual.

^ Enter keyword HEADLIGHT, and select Headlight Replacement from the list.

2. Inspect the electrical connection between the headlight bulb igniter and the control unit assembly. If you find corrosion, replace the igniter and the control unit.

^ Refer to pages 22-162 and 22-163 of the 2004 TSX Service Manual.

^ Enter keyword HEADLIGHT, and select HID (High Intensity Discharge) Bulb Replacement and HID (High Intensity Discharge) Unit Replacement from the list.

3. Install the new headlight unit and gasket.

4. Repeat steps 1 thru 3 for the other headlight, if needed.
