DTC 73-1x

DTC 73-1x (73-10 to 73-19, 73-1A to 73-1F): Open in Driver's E-pretensioner Motor

1. Erase the DTC memory.
2. Read the DTC.

Is DTC 73-1x indicated?

YES - Go to step 3.

NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview If another DTC is indicated, go to the DTC Troubleshooting Index. Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions

3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
4. Disconnect e-pretensioner subharness 5Pconnector A from the e-pretensioner unit.
5. Disconnect e-pretensioner subharness 2Pconnector from the driver's e-pretensioner motor.




6. Check resistance between the No. 2 terminal of e-pretensioner unit connector A (5P) and the No. 2 terminal of driver's e-pretensioner motor 2P connector, and between the No, 4 terminal of e-pretensioner unit connector A (5P) and the No. 1 terminal of driver's e-pretensioner motor 2P connector. There should be 0-1.0 Ohm.

Is the resistance as specified?

YES - Go to step 7.

NO - Open in the e-pretensioner subharness or left side wire harness; replace the faulty harness.

7. Reconnect the driver's e-pretensioner motor 2P connector.




8. Check resistance between the No. 1 and No. 4 terminals of e-pretensioner unit connector A (5P). There should be 0-1.0 Ohm.

Is the resistance as specified?

YES - Faulty e-pretensioner unit; replace the e-pretensioner unit.

NO - Faulty e-pretensioner motor; replace the driver's e-pretensioner motor.
