Auto Door Unlock/Lock Does Not Work When Shifting To/From Park

*REVISION SUMMARY

Under WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION:

^ The Symptom Code for transmission range switch replacement was changed.

^ The Flat Rate Time was changed for both transmission range switch replacement and for driver's under-dash fuse/relay box replacement.*

SYMPTOM

Clients report that the auto door unlock/lock feature does not work, or it works intermittently. This happens after they program the feature to activate when the shift lever is moved to/from Park.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The signal from the shift position sensor is faulty.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

2005 models: Replace the transmission range switch and the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.

2006 models: Replace the transmission range switch.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Replace the transmission range switch:

NOTE:
Because the replacement switch is pre-assembled, you don't need to do steps 16 thru 18 of the replacement procedure.

^ Refer to page 14-283 of the 05-08 RL Service Manual, or

^ Online, enter keyword RANGE and select Transmission Range Switch Replacement from the list.

2. If you're working on a 2005 RL, replace the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box:

^ Refer to page 22-90 of the service manual, or

^ Online, enter keyword FUSE BOX and select Under-dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation from the list.
