Wipers - Poor Snow/Slush Wiper Cleaning Performance

Windshield Wiper Doesn't Clean Snow or Slush From the Windshield (Supersedes 07-009, dated February 16, 2007, to update the information marked by the black bar)
SYMPTOM
The driver's side windshield wiper doesn't properly clean snow or slush off of the windshield.
PROBABLE CAUSE
There is insufficient wiper blade pressure against the windshield.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the wiper linkage assembly and the driver's side windshield wiper arm and blade assembly.

Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Open the hood. Make sure the wipers are in their park position.
2. Remove the wiper arm caps and nuts, and both wiper arms.
3. Remove the cowl cover upper trim.
4. Remove the two cowl covers.
5. Disconnect the 5P connector from the wiper motor.
6. Remove the four bolts and the wiper linkage/motor assembly.
7. Remove the wiper motor from the windshield wiper linkage.
8. Install the wiper motor onto the new wiper linkage by aligning the arrow on the link with the middle mark on the wiper motor mounting base.
9. Install the wiper linkage/motor assembly onto the vehicle, then reconnect the 5P wiper motor connector to the wiper motor.
10. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II). Turn the wiper switch on and then off to verify that the linkage is in its park position.
11. Reinstall the driver's side cowl cover, then install the passenger's side cowl cover. Replace any damaged trim clips.
12. Reinstall the cowl cover upper trim. Replace any damaged trim clips.
13. Install the original passenger's side wiper arm assembly and the new driver's side wiper arm assembly.
