REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove the windshield.

^ Refer to page 20-21 of the 2002-2006 RSX Service Manual, or

^ Online, enter keyword WINDSHIELD, then select Windshield Replacement from the list.

2. Cut 18 pieces of wool felt (20 mm x 30 mm).

3. Apply a piece of masking tape across the top of the dashboard just in front of the defroster vent. Slightly lift up on the dashboard, and feel the underside to locate each rib. Using a felt-tip marker, mark the masking tape where each rib is located.

4. Remove the backing paper from one piece of wool felt. Stick the edge of the piece of wool felt to your thumb. Using the mark on the tape as a reference point, slightly pull up on the instrument panel with your other hand, and slide the felt under the leading edge of the rib. Make sure the felt goes between the rubber mat and the rib. Center the piece of felt on the rib, then fold the felt piece over the sides of the rib. Make sure the felt sticks firmly to the rib.

5. Repeat the process on the remaining 17 ribs.

6. Reinstall the windshield.

NOTE:
Allow the glue to cure for 24 hours, then test-drive the vehicle to make sure the creaking noise is gone.
