MIL Comes On With DTC P0973

SYMPTOM

The MIL is on with DTC P0973 (short in shift solenoid valve A circuit).

PROBABLE CAUSE

Contamination on the contact area of the solenoid causes a short to ground.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace shift solenoid A.

REPAIR PROCEDURE





1. Replace shift solenoid A (blue wire in harness).

^ Refer to page 14-260 of the 2002-06 RSX Service Manual, or

^ Online, enter keyword Shift Solenoid Valve Replacement, and select Shift Solenoid Valve Replacement (A/T) from the list.




NOTE: Replace the solenoid cover gasket and ATF cooler pipe sealing washers during installation.

2. Clear the DTC with the HDS, then test-drive the vehicle to ensure that the DTC does not recur.

3. Inspect for any automatic transmission fluid leaks related to the repair.
