Audio System Information Does Not Display on the Display Panel (Without Navigation)

Audio system information does not display on the display panel (without navigation) or audio-HVAC subdisplay unit (with navigation). The HVAC controls may also be affected.

1. Check for DTCs in the display module control unit.

Are there any DTCs?

YES - Troubleshoot the DTCs.

NO - Go to step 2.

2. Disconnect display panel control unit connector A (14P).
3. Disconnect audio unit connector C (26P).




4. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (26P) terminals and display panel control unit connector A (14P) terminals according to the chart.

Is there continuity?

YES - Go to step 5.

NO - Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the display panel control unit.




5. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (26P) terminals in the table and body ground. Then check for continuity between the terminals in the table and audio connector C (26P) No. 12 terminal (the harness shield).

Is there continuity?

YES - Repair a short in the wire between the audio unit and the display module control unit, or replace the appropriate shielded harness.

NO -
- Without navigation: Go to step 6.
- With navigation: Go to step 9.

6. Substitute a known-good display panel.
7. Reconnect all connectors.
8. Check the display.

Does the display operate properly?

YES - Replace the display panel control unit.

NO - Replace the audio unit.

9. Check the connections at the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit connector (10P) and the display panel control unit connector E (22P).

Are the connectors and terminals connected properly?

YES - Go to step 10.

NO - Repair the connection and recheck.

10. Disconnect the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit connector (10P).
11. Disconnect the display panel control unit connector E (22P).




12. Check for continuity between the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit connector (10P) and the display panel control unit connector E (22P) terminals for each wire listed in the chart.

Is there continuity?

YES - Go to step 13.

NO - Repair an open in the wire between the display panel control unit and the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit




13. Check for continuity between each audio-HVAC subdisplay unit connector (10P) terminal and body ground according to the table. Then check for continuity between the terminals in the table and audio connector C (26P) No. 12 terminal (the harness shield).

Is there continuity?

YES - Repair the short to ground in the wire between the display panel control unit and the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit, or replace the appropriate shielded harness.

NO - Go to step 14.

14. Substitute a known-good audio-HVAC subdisplay unit and recheck.

Does the subdisplay work properly?

YES - Replace the original audio-HVAC subdisplay unit.

NO - Substitute a known-good display panel control unit and retest. If the problem is gone, replace the original display panel control unit.
