REPAIR PROCEDURE A

1. Remove the front brake calipers:

^ Refer to page 18-11 of the 2005-07 RL Service Manual or

^ Online, enter keyword HUB and select Knuckle/
Hub Replacement from the list.

2. Replace the brake discs with the part number listed under PARTS INFORMATION:

^ Refer to page 18-12 of the service manual, or

^ Online, enter keyword HUB and select Front
Knuckle/Hub Replacement from the list.

3. Refinish both new front brake discs with an on-car brake lathe. Use the approved Kwik-Way or Snap-on brake lathe. Do not refinish the front discs off of the vehicle because disc runout cannot be adequately eliminated by this method.

NOTE:
For information on brake disc refinishing, refer to the operating manual for the lathe and to service bulletin 00-037, Brake Disc Refinishing Guidelines.

4. Remove the front brake pads and inspect the front brake caliper pad stops. Replace any caliper with a pad stop clearance that exceeds 0.1 mm.

5. Install the new front brake pads and pad springs.

^ Refer to page 19-13 of the service manual, or

^ Online, enter keyword PAD and select Front Brake Pad Inspection and Replacement from the list.

REPAIR PROCEDURE B

1. Raise the vehicle on a lift, and remove the front wheels.

2. Turn and twist out the clip from the caliper hole, and pull the clip out from the pad pins.

3. Remove the pad pins and the pad spring.

4. Install the new pad spring. While holding the pad spring, insert the pad pins into the caliper from the outside.

5. Insert the clip ends into the pad pins, then twist the clip into the caliper hole to lock it.

6. Repeat steps 2 thru 5 on the other side.

7. Reinstall the front wheels, then test-drive the vehicle.
