DTC 85

DTC 85: CAN Data Error

NOTE: If DTC U0073 and/or U1102 are stored at the same time as DTC 85, troubleshoot those DTCs first, then recheck for DTC 85.

1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Is DTC 85 indicated?
YES - Go to step 3.
NO - The system is OK at this time.

3. Test-drive the vehicle.
Does the speedometer work?
YES - Go to step 5.
NO - Go to step 4.

4. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?
YES - If DTC U0073 and/or U1102 are indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the TPMS control unit and the ECM/PCM, then go to the indicated DTC troubleshooting.
NO - Replace the ECM/PCM.

5. Turn the ignition switch OFF, then disconnect the TPMS control unit connector A (14P) and connector B (20P).





6. Check for continuity between the TPMS control unit connector B (20P) and the ECM/PCM connector E (31P).
Is there continuity?
YES - Check for loose terminals and poor connections at the TPMS control unit. If necessary, substitute a known-good TPMS control unit and recheck.
NO - Repair open in the appropriate wire between TPMS control unit and ECM/PCM.
