2004-08 TL: Seat-Back Panel Is Loose or Detached

SYMPTOM

The front seat-back panel is loose or detached.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The seat-back panel clip mounting bosses are broken.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Install a backboard repair bracket on the affected seat- back panel.

Out of warranty:
Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove the affected seat-back panel.





2. Cut off both lower clip bosses with diagonal cutting pliers or another appropriate cutting tool.

3. Remove the pocket spring bracket (three screws).





4. Install the backboard repair bracket. Make sure you properly align the screw holes, and to prevent stripping the plastic, do not overtighten the screws.

5. Insert the new clips into the slots on the backboard repair bracket.

6. Reinstall the seat-back panel.
