Interior - Power Window Switch Button Deformed/Broken

Power Window Main Switch Button is Damaged or Missing (Supersedes 06-009, dated April 4, 2006, to update the information marked by asterisks)

SYMPTOM

The power window main switch button is deformed, broken, or missing.

PROBABLE CAUSE

Chemicals used during detailing may have damaged the switch button.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the switch button. (You do not have to remove or replace the power window switch.)

Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

REPAIR PROCEDURE





1. Remove the power window main switch button from the power window main switch.

2. Look down into the switch for any remaining broken lock tab pieces from the button. If there are any, remove them with a pick or a vacuum cleaner.

3. Install the new button, and check the operation of the main switch and the power windows.

NOTE:
Have the service consultant inform the client that when using vinyl/leather protectants, be careful to not get any onto the power window switch buttons.
