Rear Speakers Pop or Crack

SYMPTOM

One or both rear speakers pop or crack when the audio system is on.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The speaker voice coil contacts the yoke assembly.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace one or both rear speakers.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Using a plastic trim tool, remove the rear speaker cover by prying straight up to release the clips.





2. Remove the four mounting bolts from the rear speaker.

3. Disconnect the 2P connector, and remove the rear speaker.

4. Connect the 2P connector to the new rear speaker, install the new rear speaker with the mounting bolts, then install the speaker cover.

5. Repeat steps 1 thru 4 to replace the other rear speaker if needed.
