2004-06 TSX: MIL Is On With DTC P1172 or P2A00

(Supercedes 08-012, dated July 22, 2011, to update the information marked by black bars and asterisks).

REVISION SUMMARY

*Under WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION, a flat rate time was changed.

SYMPTOM

The MIL is on with DTC P1172 (air fuel sensor [sensor 1] circuit out of range, high), DTC P2A00 (air fuel sensor [sensor 1] circuit range/performance problem), or both.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The air/fuel sensor is damaged by moisture in the exhaust system during engine warm-up.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Update the PGM-FI software with the HDS, and replace the air/fuel sensor.

NOTE:
The PGM-FI software has been changed to delay the operation of the A/F sensor heater when there is a high probability of moisture in the exhaust system.

Air/Fuel Sensor: P/N 36531-RBB-003

SOFTWARE INFORMATION

HDS Software Version: 2.013.011 Feb 2008 (gray)
or later.

Control Module (CM) Update:

Application Version V6.11.04 or later.

Database Update 06-FEB-2008 or later.

NOTE:
If you use an earlier HDS software version, the HDS may incorrectly indicate that the vehicle does not need an update.





The updated PGM-FI software program IDs and P/Ns are shown below. If this, or a later program ID, is the Current Program ID displayed during the update, the software for this service bulletin is already installed.





WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION

The normal warranty applies.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Update the PGM-FI software with the HDS. Refer to Service Bulletin 01-026, Updating Control Units/Modules.

2. Replace the air/fuel sensor:

^ Refer to page 11-223 of the 2004-08 TSX Service Manual, or

^ Online, enter keyword A/F, and select A/F Sensor Replacement from the list.
