DTC P0563: Engine Control Module (ECM)/Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Power Source Circuit Unexpected Voltage

General Description
If there is a short to ground in the harness between the engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM) and PGM-FI main relay 1, PGM-FI main relay 1 stays ON even though the ignition switch is OFF, and the ECM/PCM remains active. However, the engine is not running because the power for the gauges, the ignition, and the fuel pump is turned OFF by the ignition switch.

When the ECM/PCM operates for a set time after the ignition switch is turned OFF, a malfunction is detected and a DTC is stored.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type, OBD Status

Enable Conditions

Malfunction Threshold
The ECM/PCM operates for at least 5 seconds after the ignition switch is turned OFF.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for illuminating the indicator
When a malfunction is detected, the DTC and the freeze frame data are stored in the ECM/PCM memory. The MIL does not come on.

Conditions for clearing the DTC
The DTC and the freeze frame data can be cleared by using the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
