Whine From Speakers During HFL Use
SYMPTOM
With the engine running, a high-pitched whine comes from the audio system speakers when you press the HFL (HandsFreeLink(TM) Talk button on the steering wheel. Increasing the engine rpm increases the whine's pitch, and increasing the audio system volume increases the whine's volume. The whine stops when you press the HFL Back button on the steering wheel.
PROBABLE CAUSE
A ground wire to the HFL control unit connector transmits electrical noise from other vehicle systems to the audio speakers.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Cut the YEL ground wire near the HFL control unit connector, and insulate the cut ends with electrical tape.
