REPAIR PROCEDURE

NOTE:
SRS components are located in the area of this repair. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures in the 04-06 TL Service Manual, the 07-08 TL Service Manual, or ISIS before doing this repair.

1. Open the moonroof completely.

2. Pull down the front door opening trim at the A-pillar and headliner on the driver's and passenger's sides.

3. Remove both A-pillar trim pieces:

^ Pry up the A-pillar cap until it stops so the tapered pin on the cap releases the grommet.

^ Pull the A-pillar trim back to detach the clip, and pull the trim up.

4. Remove the grab handle by removing its caps and self-tapping screws.

5. Remove both sunvisors:

^ Using a trim tool, release the tabs, then remove the sunvisor cap from the bracket.

^ Remove the two self-tapping screws, then detach the sunvisor from its holder.

^ Disconnect the vanity mirror light connector.

6. Remove both sunvisor holders: Using a flat-tip screwdriver, push the hook, turn the holder 900, and pull it out.

7. Carefully pry out the moonroof switch from the roof console, and disconnect the 7P connector.

8. With your finger in the moonroof switch hole, pull down the roof console to release the clip, then remove the console. Disconnect the 20P connector.

9. Remove the roof console bezel (four bolts), then disconnect its 22P connector.

10. Lower the front of the headliner by releasing the four clips and the four fasteners.

11. Disconnect both vanity light connectors.

12. Remove the three fasteners from the moonroof pan.

13. Using isopropyl alcohol and a shop towel, remove any remaining adhesive residue from the moonroof pan.

14. Open a packet of the adhesion promoter (primer), included in the kit, and apply it to the fastener locations on the moonroof pan. Allow the primer to dry for 5 minutes.

15. Peel off the backing on the new fasteners, then apply them in the same positions as the original fasteners.

NOTE:

^ The fasteners are directional, and must be installed as shown. Apply about 10 to 15 lbs of hand pressure on the entire piece.

^ Allow the adhesive and primer to dry for 2 hours before reinstalling the headliner.

16. Check the dual lock fasteners on the headliner. If the teeth on any of the fasteners are damaged, replace the fasteners, as shown.

17. Push the headliner into position, and use your middle finger and thumb to squeeze the headliner to the moonroof pan to attach the fasteners.

NOTE:
Do not hit the headliner with your fist. Doing so may cause damage to the moonroof pan.

18. Reinstall all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
