Glove Box Is Difficult to Open or Will Not Open
SYMPTOM
The glove box is difficult to open, or it will not open.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The glove box handle mechanism is fatigued and won't actuate the latch assembly.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the glove box.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Detach the hook from the glove box damper, and remove the glove box stop on each side.
2. Disconnect the trunk lid opener main switch connector, and detach the harness clip.
3. While holding the glove box, remove the screws, then remove the glove box.
4. Insert the key into the lock cylinder. Lift the glove box handle, and use a hook-shaped tool to pull one end of the retainer out of its slot.
5. Remove the glove box lock cylinder and the retainer.
6. Reinstall the retainer into the new glove box. Push the lock cylinder into place securely until the retainer snaps into place.
7. Install the new glove box, then reconnect the trunk lid opener main switch connector and the harness clip.
8. Reinstall the glove box stop on each side, then reattach the damper hook.
