DTC B1016: MICU Lost Communication with Keyless Access Control Unit (PANIC Message)

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
2. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and then back ON (II).
3. Wait for 6 seconds or more.
4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B1016 indicated?

YES - Go to step 5.

NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections between the MICU and the keyless access control unit.

5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTCs B1066 also indicated?

YES - Do the keyless access control unit input test.

NO - Check for an open in the communication circuit between the MICU and the gauge control module. If the circuit is OK, replace the MICU. If the circuit is bad, repair the open.
