In Florida, Navigation Unit Reboots When Destination Is Entered

SYMPTOM

When a vehicle is in Florida, and you enter a destination into the navigation system, the system reboots.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to only vehicles with a Real-Time Traffic subscription. If the client does not subscribe to Real-Time Traffic, but complains about the navigation system rebooting, refer to the applicable service manual troubleshooting.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Update the navigation unit software using the patch CD.

NOTE:
The patch CD contains no map or P01 data.

DIAGNOSIS

1. Verify the client complaint by entering the client's destination information into the navigation system, and see if it reboots.

Does the navigation system reboot?

Yes - Go to step 2.

No - This service bulletin does not apply. Continue with normal troubleshooting.





2. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, select Detail Information & Setting, then select Version.

Is the Program Flash Version 1.70.00 KA or higher?

Yes - This service bulletin does not apply. Continue with normal troubleshooting.

No - Go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Start the engine.

2. Eject the navigation DVD. Refer to the applicable service manual for the DVD location, ejecting, and handling instructions.

3. With the engine running, insert the correct patch CD into the navigation DVD slot with its label side up. If needed, close the door over the slot.





4. Allow the navigation system to download the patch CD. The navigation screen may go blank or display a brief error message before a downloading message appears, then it changes to an updating software progress bar.





5. After the CD finishes loading, the navigation system may reboot to the disclaimer screen, or display DVD Disc reading error (incorrect DVD Disc) on the screen. Remove the patch CD, and insert the original navigation DVD.

NOTE:
If the Factory in-line diagnostic screen appears, refer to the applicable service manual for the symptom System always comes up in in-line diagnostic mode.

6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), wait 30 seconds, then restart the engine.

7. Do the map-matching and verify that the navigation system works properly by test-driving the vehicle on a mapped road until the road name appears at the bottom of the screen.

NOTE:
Do not enter a destination at this time.

8. Verify the update by checking that the HDD version is 1.70.00 KA or higher, and entering the client's destination information into the navigation system.
