Audio System Information Does Not Display on the Display Panel (With / Without Navigation)
Audio system information does not display on the display panel (without navigation) or audio-HVAC subdisplay unit (with navigation). The HVAC controls may also be affectedNOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first.
- Check the connectors for poor connection or loose terminals.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Check for DTCs in the display panel control unit.
Are there any DTCs?
YES - Troubleshoot the DTCs.
NO - Go to step 3.
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
4. Remove the audio-HVAC display module assembly, and disconnect audio unit connector C (40P) and display panel control unit connector A (22P).
5. Check for continuity between body ground and audio unit connector C (40P) terminals No. 27 and No. 28 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short to body ground in the wire(s) between audio unit and display panel control unit.
NO - Go to step 6.
6. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (40P) and display panel control unit connector A (22P) according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 7.
NO - Repair open in the wire(s) between audio unit and display panel control unit.
7. Check for continuity between body ground and audio unit connector C (40P) terminals No. 9 and No. 29 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES - Short to body ground in the wire(s) between audio unit and display panel control unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO - Go to step 8.
8. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (40P) according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES - Short in the wire(s) between audio unit and display panel control unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO - Go to step 9.
9. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (40P) and display panel control unit connector A (22P) according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES -
- With navigation: Go to step 10.
- Without navigation: Substitute a known-good display panel control unit and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original display panel control unit. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio unit.
NO - Open in the wire(s) between audio unit and display panel control unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
10. Disconnect display panel control unit connector E (22P) and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit 10P connector.
11. Check for continuity between body ground and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit 10P connector terminal No. 1.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 12.
NO - Repair open in the wire between audio-HVAC subdisplay unit and G503. If the wire is OK, repair loose or poor connection at G503.
12. Check for continuity between body ground and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit 10P connector terminals No. 2, No. 9, and No. 10 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short to body ground in the wire(s) between display panel control unit and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit.
NO - Go to step 13.
13. Check for continuity between display panel control unit connector E (22P) and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit 10P connector according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 14.
NO - Repair open in the wire(s) between display panel control unit and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit.
14. Check for continuity between body ground and display panel control unit connector E (22P) terminals No. 9, No. 10, No. 21, and No. 22 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES - Short to body ground in the wire(s) between display panel control unit and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO - Go to step 15.
15. Check for continuity between display panel control unit connector E (22P) according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES - Short in the wire(s) between display panel control unit and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO - Go to step 16.
16. Check for continuity between display panel control unit connector E (22P) and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit 10P connector according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES - Substitute a known-good audio-HVAC subdisplay unit and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio-HVAC subdisplay unit. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the display panel control unit.
NO - Repair open in the wire(s) between display panel control unit and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit.
