Fuel Cap Warning Message Is On Without DTCs
SYMPTOM
A TIGHTEN FUEL CAP message appears on the MID (multi-information display) without setting any Pending or Confirmed DTCs.
PROBABLE CAUSE
An intermittent fault in the EVAP canister purge valve causes the PCM on-board diagnostics for the evaporative emissions to fail.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the EVAP canister purge valve.

DIAGNOSIS
With the fuel cap warning message on, check for DTCs with the HDS.
Are there any DTCs?
Yes - This service bulletin does not apply. Troubleshoot the DTC(s) as needed.
No - Go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Replace the EVAP canister purge valve:
NOTE:
The EVAP canister purge valve is located near the throttle body.
^ Disconnect the two hoses and the 2P connector from the purge valve.
^ Remove the purge valve (two bolts).
^ Install the new purge valve, and torque the bolts to 9.8 N.m (7.2 lb-ft).
^ Connect the 2P connector and the two hoses to the new purge valve.
