Navigation Cannot Control XM Radio

Navigation cannot control XM radio

NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first.
- If you can only turn to channels 000, 001, 174, and 247, make sure the audio unit is set to the channel mode (see owner's manual), if it is set to channel mode, call XM satellite radio customer support and check the account activation status.
- Make sure that the correct DVD color and version are installed.
- Check any official Honda service website for more service information about the navigation system.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Select XM and tune to several channels.

Does the audio system operate normally (can XM be selected with the audio unit buttons and tuned with the knobs)?

YES - Go to step 3.

NO - Go to audio system troubleshooting. Audio System

3. Go into the Diagnostic mode and use the Navi System Link diagnosis.

Is the XM or XM (HIP) icon red?

YES -
- With AcuraLink: Go to step 4.
- Without AcuraLink: Go to step 8.

NO - Substitute a known-good navigation unit and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original navigation unit. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the navigation unit.

4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
5. Disconnect navigation unit connector A (20P).
6. Disconnect AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (20P).
7. Check for continuity between navigation unit connector A (20P) and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (20P) according to the table.






Is there continuity?

YES - Substitute a known-good navigation unit and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original navigation unit. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the navigation unit.

NO - Open in the wire(s) between navigation unit and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver). Replace the affected shielded harness.

8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
9. Disconnect navigation unit connector A (20P).
10. Disconnect XM receiver connector A (14P).
11. Check for continuity between navigation unit connector A (20P) and XM receiver connector A (14P) according to the table.






Is there continuity?

YES - Substitute a known-good navigation unit and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original navigation unit. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the navigation unit.

NO - Open in the wire(s) between navigation unit and XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.
