Stereo Amplifier Has No Sound
Stereo amplifier has no soundNOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
2. Measure the voltage between stereo amplifier connector A (14P) terminal No. 11 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 3.
NO - Repair open in the wire between No. 5 (20 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the stereo amplifier.
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
4. Measure the voltage between stereo amplifier connector A (14P) terminal No. 10 and body ground.
Is there less than 0.1V?
YES - Go to step 5.
NO - Repair open in the wire between the stereo amplifier and G506. If the wire is OK, repair loose or poor connection at G506.
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
6. Disconnect audio unit connector C (40P) and stereo amplifier connector B (20P).
7. Type-S model: Disconnect active noise control unit 16P connector, active noise control front microphone 4P connector, and active noise control rear microphone 5P connector.
8. Check for continuity between body ground and stereo amplifier connector B (20P) terminal No. 7 and No. 16 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short to body ground in the wire between the audio unit and the stereo amplifier.
NO - Go to step 9.
9. Check for continuity between stereo amplifier connector B (20P) terminal No. 7 and No. 16 and audio unit connector C (40P) terminal No. 15 and No. 16.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 10.
NO - Repair open in the wire between the stereo amplifier and audio unit.
10. Substitute a known-good stereo amplifier, then reconnect all connectors and do the speaker check mode in the self-diagnosis.
Is the sound normal?
YES - Replace the original stereo amplifier.
NO - Replace the audio unit.
