Front Seat-Back Cover

Front Seat-back Cover Replacement

Special Tools Required
KTC trim tool set SOJAT2014 *

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to tear the seams or damage the seat covers.
- On the passenger's seat, do not touch the OPDS sensor in the seat-back pad, and keep it away from oil. Oil can corrode the sensor causing it to fail.

1. Remove the front seat.
2. Remove the seat-back.




3. Detach the clips and hooks (A) by pulling the bottom of the back panel (B) back, then pull the panel upward to release the hooks (C) from the seat back frame, and remove the panel.




4. Remove the clips (A) and release the hook strips (B), then loosen the seat-back cover (C).




5. Passenger's 4-way power seat: Remove the clip (A). Pull the power seat subharness (B), side airbag harness (C), and ODS unit harness (D) out through the holes (E) in the seat-back cover.




6. Driver's 10-way power seat: Remove the clips (A). Disconnect the seat-back heater connector (B), and pull the power seat subharness (C) and side airbag harness (D) out through the hole (E) in the seatback cover.




7. Release the front hook (A) and rear hook (B) of the reinforcing cloth (C) from seat-back frame (D).




8. Pull out the head restraint guides (A) while pinching the end of the guides,and remove them.




9. Remove the seat-back cover/pad (A) from the seat (B).







10. Pull back the edge of the seat-back cover all the way around, and release the clips (A) and Velcro fastener (B), then remove the seat-back cover.




11. Install the cover in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Reinitialize the ODS unit.
- To prevent wrinkles when installing a seat-back cover, make sure the material is stretched evenly over the pad before securing the clips, hooks, and hook strips.
- Replace any clips (A) you removed with new ones. Install them with commercially available upholstery ring pliers (B).
- Reinstall the front hook (C) and rear hook (D) of the reinforcing cloth (E) securely.
- Use only original Acura replacement seat-back covers.
- Make sure the power seat subharness, side airbag harness, seat-back heater harness, and ODS unit harness (passenger's seat) are routed properly.
