DTC 86

DTC 86: F-CAN Communication

1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
3. Start and run the engine for at least 5 seconds then turn the engine off.
4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 86 indicated?

YES - Go to step 5.

NO - The F-CAN communication line is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures.

5. Check for the fuel and emission systems (PGM-FI) DTCs with the HDS.

Are any ECM/PCM DTCs indicated?

YES - Do the applicable troubleshooting for the DTC.

NO - Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 47P connector. If no loose terminals are found, replace the VSA modulator-control unit.
