Audio-HVAC subdisplay unit does not display

NOTE: Check the vehicle battery condition first.

1. Remove the audio-HVAC display module.

NOTE: Eject all the discs before removing the audio unit to prevent damaging the CD player's load mechanism.

2. Remove the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit.
3. Check the connections at the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit 10P connector and the audio-HVAC display panel connector C (10P).

Are the connectors and terminals connected properly?

YES - Go to step 4.

NO - Repair the connection and recheck.

4. Disconnect audio-HVAC display panel connector C (10P) and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit 10P connector.
5. Check for continuity between body ground audio-HVAC display panel connector C (10P) terminals No. 1, No. 2, No. 9, and No. 10 individually.






Is there continuity?

YES - Repair short to body ground in the wire(s) between audio-HVAC display panel and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit.

NO - Go to step 6.


6. Check for continuity between audio-HVAC display panel connector C (10P) and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit 10P connector according to the table.






Is there continuity?

YES - Go to step 7.

NO - Repair open in the wire(s) between audio-HVAC display panel and the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit.

7. Check for continuity between audio-HVAC subdisplay unit 10P connector terminal No. 3 and body ground.






Is there continuity?

YES - Go to step 8.

NO - Repair open in the wire between the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit and body ground.

8. Check for continuity between body ground and audio-HVAC display panel connector C (10P) terminals No. 4, No. 5, No. 6, and No. 7 individually.






Is there continuity?

YES - Short to body ground in the wire(s) between audio-HVAC display panel and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Go to step 9.

9. Check for continuity between audio-HVAC display panel connector C (10P) connector according to the table.






Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

YES - Short in the wire(s) between audio-HVAC display panel and the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Go to step 10.

10. Check for continuity between audio-HVAC display panel connector C (10P) and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit 10P connector according to the table.






Is there continuity?

YES - Substitute a known-good audio-HVAC display panel and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio-HVAC display panel. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit.

NO - Open in the wire(s) between audio-HVAC display panel and the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the audio-HVAC display panel and audio-HVAC subdisplay unit. If the connections are OK, replace the affected shielded harness.
