DTC Troubleshooting: B1659

DTC B1659:

Front Interior Antenna Circuit Shorted

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).

3. Select MODE MENU from the HDS, then enter SELF CHECK.

4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B1659 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.�

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

6. Disconnect keyless access control unit connector C (17P).

7. Disconnect the front interior LF antenna 2P connector.

8. Check for continuity between body ground and keyless access control unit connector C (17P) terminals No. 4 and No. 5 individually.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to ground in the wire.�

NO -

Go to step 9.

9. Reconnect keyless access control unit connector C (17P).

10. Connect the voltmeter between front interior LF antenna 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.





11. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

12. Select FUNCTION TEST from the HDS, and do FRONT INTERIOR ANTENNA L DC OUTPUT.

Is there voltage?

YES -

Replace the front interior LF antenna Keyless Access LF Antenna (Front Interior) Replacement.�

NO -

Replace the keyless access control unit Keyless Access Control Unit Input Test/Replacement.�
