DTC Troubleshooting: B2145
DTC B2145:
Left AFS Gearbox Motor Swing Error
NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.
1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).
3. Turn the headlight switch ON.
4. Turn the steering wheel to the left or to the right 90 degrees or more from the center position.
5. Select BODY ELECTRICAL menu from the HDS.
6. While maintaining communication with the HDS, test-drive in a straight line for 98.4 feet (30 m) at least 16 mph (25 km/h).
7. Check the AFS indicator in the gauge control module.
Does the AFS indicator come on?
YES -
Go to step 10.
NO -
Go to step 8.
8. Select ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING from the BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SELECT menu, and enter the DATA LIST.
9. Check the STEERING ANGLE LEARN information in the DATA LIST.
Is the steering angle learn finished?
YES -
Go to step 10.
NO -
Go to step 6, and repeat the procedure.
10. Test-drive at 7 mph (10 km/h) for at least 3 minutes.
11. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Are any other DTCs indicated with B2145?
YES -
Troubleshoot the indicated DTC.�
NO -
Go to step 12.
12. Select FUNCTION TEST from the HDS.
13. Select ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING, and check the headlights operation.
NOTE: The left headlight should move 20 degrees to the left then return, and the right headlight should move 20 degrees to the right then return.
Do the headlights operate normally?
YES -
Go to step 14.
NO -
Go to step 29.
14. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
15. Disconnect the adaptive front lighting control unit 40P connector.
16. Disconnect the left and right adaptive front lighting gearbox 8P connectors.
17. Check for continuity between body ground and adaptive front lighting control unit 40P connector terminals No. 13, No. 31, and No. 32 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair a short to ground in the wire.�
NO -
Go to step 18.
18. Connect left adaptive front lighting gearbox 8P connector terminal No. 5 to body ground with a jumper wire.
19. Check for continuity between adaptive front lighting control unit 40P connector terminal No. 13 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 20.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
20. Connect left adaptive front lighting gearbox 8P connector terminal No. 1 to body ground with a jumper wire.
21. Check for continuity between adaptive front lighting control unit 40P connector terminal No. 32 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 22.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
22. Connect left adaptive front lighting gearbox 8P connector terminal No. 6 to body ground with a jumper.
23. Check for continuity between adaptive front lighting control unit 40P connector terminal No. 31 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 24.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
24. Reconnect all connectors.
25. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
26. Do the adaptive front lighting control unit learning procedure Adaptive Front Lighting Control Unit Learning Procedure.
27. Turn the steering wheel to the center position, and hold it in that position.
28. Measure the voltage between adaptive front lighting control unit 40P connector terminals No. 13 (+) and No. 31 (-).
Is there about 0.8-1.5 V?
YES -
Replace the adaptive front lighting control unit Adaptive Front Lighting Control Unit Input Test/Replacement, and do the adaptive front lighting control unit learning procedure Adaptive Front Lighting Control Unit Learning Procedure.�
NO -
Faulty hall sensor, replace the left adaptive front lighting gearbox Adaptive Front Lighting Gearbox Replacement.�
29. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
30. Disconnect the left adaptive front lighting gearbox 8P connector.
31. Test the left adaptive front lighting gearbox Adaptive Front Lighting Gearbox Test.
Is the left adaptive front lighting gearbox OK?
YES -
Go to step 32.
NO -
Replace the left adaptive front lighting gearbox Adaptive Front Lighting Gearbox Replacement.�
32. Disconnect the adaptive front lighting control unit 40P connector.
33. Connect left adaptive front lighting gearbox 8P connector terminals No. 3, No. 4, No. 7, and No. 8 to body ground with jumper wires.
34. Check for continuity between body ground and adaptive front lighting control unit 40P connector terminals No. 7, No. 9, No. 27, and No. 29 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Replace the adaptive front lighting control unit Adaptive Front Lighting Control Unit Input Test/Replacement, and do the adaptive front lighting control unit learning procedure Adaptive Front Lighting Control Unit Learning Procedure.�
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
