SH AWD DTC Troubleshooting: 61-1

DTC 61-1:

Shift Solenoid Valve (Open)

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

3. Do the SHIFT SOLENOID TEST with the HDS.

4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 61-1 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.�

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

6. Disconnect SH-AWD control unit connectors A (26P) and B (8P).

7. Measure the resistance between SH-AWD control unit connector terminals A1 and B8.





Is there 20 Ohms or more?

YES -

Go to step 8.

NO -

Check for loose connection terminals between the SH-AWD control unit and the shift solenoid valve. If the connections are OK, substitute a known-good SH-AWD control unit Service and Repair and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with the known-good SH-AWD control unit, replace the original SH-AWD control unit Service and Repair.�

8. Disconnect the shift solenoid valve 2P connector.

9. Connect a jumper wire between SH-AWD control unit connector terminals A1 and B8.






10. Check for continuity between shift solenoid valve 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Replace the shift solenoid valve Rear Differential Disassembly/Reassembly.�

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the SH-AWD control unit and the shift solenoid valve.�
