Rearview camera image does not come on or work properly
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first Testing and Inspection.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Always check for and resolve all CAN DTCs before troubleshooting the navigation system.
- Before troubleshooting, make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system.
- After troubleshooting, enter the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system.
- Verify that the correct navigation unit is installed for this model. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode and use Version.
- Make sure that the correct navigation DVD color and version are installed.
- Check any official Honda service website for more service information about the navigation system.
1. Connect the HDS to the DLC.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Are there any DTCs present?
YES -
Troubleshoot the DTC, then recheck.�
NO -
Go to step 4.
4. Start the engine.
Does the navigation screen come on and show an image when the vehicle is started?
YES -
Go to step 5.
NO -
Go to No picture is displayed troubleshooting Symptom Troubleshooting.�
5. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the System Links test to check the connection between the navigation unit and the rearview camera.
Is the R-camera link red on the screen?
YES -
Go to step 6.
NO -
Go to step 9.
6. Confirm the system connection.
Is the R-camera link red on the screen?
YES -
Go to step 7.
NO -
Go to step 9.
7. Check the connections between navigation unit connector E (7P) and the rearview camera 6P connector.
Are the connections OK?
YES -
Go to step 10.
NO -
Repair the poor connection, and reconnect the connectors.�
8. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the Car Status diagnosis to check the BACK signals.
Does the BACK signal change from [0] to [1]when the shift lever position is changed from P or N to R?
YES -
Go to step 9.
NO -
Go to step 6 on Vehicle position icon wanders across the map when driving (does not follow a displayed road) or map vehicle ICON spins troubleshooting.�
9. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
10. Disconnect navigation unit connector E (7P) and the rearview camera 6P connector.
11. Check for continuity between navigation unit connector E (7P) and the rearview camera 6P connector according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 12.
NO -
There is an open in the wire between the navigation unit and the rearview camera. Replace the affected shielded harness.�
12. Check for continuity between navigation unit connector E (7P) and body ground according to the table. Then check for continuity between navigation unit connector E (7P) terminal No. 6 and rearview camera 6P connector terminal No. 5 and the same terminals.
Is there continuity?
YES -
There is a short in the wire between the navigation unit and the rearview camera. Replace the affected shielded harness.�
NO -
Go to step 13.
13. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and measure the voltage between navigation unit connector E (7P) and body ground according to the table.
Is there 0.2 V or more?
YES -
There is a short to power in the wire between the navigation unit and the rearview camera. Replace the affected shielded harness.�
NO -
Go to step 14.
14. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
15. Reconnect the rearview camera 6P connector.
16. Substitute a known-good navigation unit Service and Repair, and check the rearview camera image when the shift lever is in R position.
Is the rearview image OK?
YES -
Replace the original navigation unit Service and Repair.�
NO -
Replace the rearview camera Service and Repair.�
