Trunk / Liftgate Latch Release Cable: Service and Repair

Trunk Lid Opener Cable Replacement

NOTE:

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the body or the related parts.
- Take care not to kink the cable.

1. Remove these items Interior Trim Removal / Installation - Trunk Area:

- Trunk floor lid
- Trunk rear trim panel
- Trunk front trim panel
- Trunk side trim panel, right side
- Trunk upper trim panel

2. Disconnect the trunk lid opener cable from the trunk inside lever Service and Repair.

3. Remove the trunk lid opener cable (A), and detach the clip (B) from the opener cable bracket (C).





4. Detach the clip (D) with a clip remover, and remove the cushion tapes (E).

5. Remove the trunk lid opener cable from the vehicle.

6. Install the opener cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- Align the marks (A) on the opener cable (B) with the cable clips (C) as shown.
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
- Push the clips into place securely.
- Replace the removed cushion tapes with new ones.
