VSA DTC Troubleshooting: 118

DTC 118:

Clutch Pedal Position Switch B Malfunction

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

3. Start and run the engine for at least 5 seconds.

4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 86 indicated?

YES -

Do the troubleshooting for DTC 86 86.�

NO -

Go to step 5.

5. Check for fuel and emissions systems DTCs with the HDS Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

Is DTC P0835 indicated?

YES -

Do the troubleshooting for DTC P0835 P0835.�

NO -

Go to step 6.

6. Check the CRUISE CANCEL CLUTCH SWITCH STATUS in the VSA DATA LIST with the HDS while moving the clutch pedal.

Does it indicate OFF when the pedal is pressed, and ON when the pedal is released?

YES -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.�

NO -

Go to step 7.

7. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

8. Check the clutch pedal position switch B Clutch Pedal Position Switch B Test (M/T).

Is the clutch pedal position switch B OK?

YES -

Go to step 9.

NO -

Replace the clutch pedal position switch B Clutch Pedal Position Switch B Replacement (M/T).�

9. Short the SCS line with the HDS.

10. Disconnect ECM connector A (49P) Service and Repair.

11. Disconnect he clutch pedal position switch B 3P connector.

12. Check for continuity between clutch pedal position switch B 3P connector terminal No. 2 and ECM connector A (49P) terminal No. 47.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 13.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the ECM and the clutch pedal position switch B.�

13. Update the VSA modulator-control unit if it does not have the latest software Testing and Inspection. If the unit already has the latest software, substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit Service and Repair.

14. Test-drive the vehicle at 19 mph (30 km/h) or more.

NOTE: Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.

15. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 118 indicated?

YES -

Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 47P connector. If the VSA modulator-control unit was updated, substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit Service and Repair, then retest. If the VSA modulator-control unit was substituted, go to step 1.

NO -

If the VSA modulator-control unit was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the VSA modulator-control unit was substituted, replace the original VSA modulator-control unit Service and Repair. If any other DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.�
