The Horn Does Not Sound and/or the Headlights Do Not Flash When the Panic Button on the Transmitter Is Pressed




Keyless/Power Door Locks/Security System Symptom Troubleshooting - The horn does not sound and/or the headlights do not flash when the PANIC button on the transmitter is pressed

The horn does not sound and/or the headlights do not flash when the PANIC button on the transmitter is pressed

NOTE: Before troubleshooting, check the B-CAN DTCs. If any DTC is indicated, refer to the B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A, and troubleshoot the indicated DTCs first.

1. Press the PANIC button.

Do the horns sound?

YES -

Go to step 3.

NO -

Go to step 2.

2. Press the horn button.

Do the horns sound?

YES -

Go to step 3.

NO -

Check the horn relay circuit Testing and Inspection.�

3. Turn the headlight switch ON.

Do the headlights come on?

YES -

Go to step 4.

NO -

Check the lighting circuit. Do the MICU input test Exterior Lights (Drivers and Passengers MICU) Input Test.�

4. Do the transmitter test Keyless Entry Transmitter Test.

Is the transmitter OK?

YES -

Substitute a known-good immobilizer-keyless control unit and recheck. If there is still a problem, substitute a known-good driver's MICU and recheck. If the problem goes away, replace the original immobilizer-keyless control unit Service and Repair or the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box, USA models Drivers Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box (Drivers MICU) Removal and Installation (USA models), Canada models Drivers Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box (Drivers MICU) Removal and Installation (USA models).�

NO -

Replace the transmitter Immobilizer Key Registration.�
